ABOUT HEATHER
I grew up on Vancouver Island and feel so grateful to live in such a beautiful part of the world. Spending time in nature every day, hiking the many trails in the area, helps me feel grounded and relaxed.
In terms of my therapeutic practice, it is a holistic and eclectic blend of relational counselling and hypnotherapeutic practices. I work from a place of believing we each carry an abundance of inner-wisdom and resources that can help us transform our lives. Rediscovering or re-remembering this wisdom can help one overcome fear, achieve goals, and develop strategies for success in all areas of life.
Having always been inquisitive and open to learning different ways of knowing and being, my path to being a hypnotherapist and counsellor involved many twists and turns as I studied a variety of modalities, from yoga to Jungian archetypes, such as the Wounded Healer.
Identifying with the Wounded Healer involved a long healing journey where I learned to reconnect my mind and body through yoga, meditation, and self-care practices. This journey ultimately led to years of post-secondary education, learning counselling skills, and training in hypnotherapy as a way to better understand the unconscious.
This continuous education in the realm of helping professions helped me to be more reflective, self-aware, and view the positive aspects of the Wounded Healer, such as being more empathetic, altruistic, and understanding.
I truly believe in hypnotherapy and want to share this amazing modality with others. As a certified counselling hypnotherapist with the International Association of Counselling Hypnotherapists (IACH), I employ hypnosis in combination with counselling in order to facilitate healing and promote well-being.
